Home Security is a hot-topic, as more and more companies are sensing the need for advancements in securing homes and making homeowners feel safer. It seems that there are many more commercials advertising home alarms, wireless systems, and technological advances that are vastly expanding the home security market. These new and popular advances take home security a step further and make excellent and practical use of the new forms of technology available to us.

-Wireless Home Security Systems: Unlike in the past when installing a security system was complicated and expensive, alarm systems are now much cheaper, and easier to implement in your home. The need for wires running through the home is now unnecessary, as sensors communicate with the system wirelessly. This way, you can strategically place sensors in more convenient places in your home, and change them around without any rewiring. A very popular option, wireless security systems offer safety without the hassle of installation or high costs.

-Smart Homes and Smart Phones: A very new and rising trend is the option of monitoring your home from a remote location. It is now possible to lock your doors, turn off your lights, and video monitor your home all from your cellular device. All of the functions of a home security system can now be updated and controlled from one place, making monitoring much more efficient. Alarm.com has an iPhone app allowing users to arm and disarm their security systems and watch live or prerecorded footage all from their phones. Companies like ADT are also making advances in security available through cell phones, that will allow homeowners to regulate even small things, like their home thermostat. The new technology that allows all of these systems to be controlled from a completely remote location allows homeowners to more efficiently manage their home, and puts more control in their hands.

-Video Monitoring: Home surveillance cameras are not an entirely new idea, but companies are making big changes to the way these cameras can protect your home. Now, video cameras can easily be installed both inside and outside of one’s home, and be very unnoticeable. New video monitoring systems allows homeowners to feel much safer as they can be motion-activated and capture clear images throughout the home.
